Adam Nelson - Drill Designer and Owner
Adam's visual designs have earned him high praise since he started designing in 2003. He has worked as a brass technician, visual technician and designer for bands across the country (you can see a full list in the Testimonials Page).
Adam grew up in South Dakota and started piano lessons at the age of 8. He later focused on Horn (which is not at all “French”) and earned his BM in Horn Performance from the University of South Dakota. While attending USD, he won two MTNA State Performance Competitions, performed as a soloist with the Symphonic Band and Brass Choir, wrote a Symphonic Band composition for his Honor's Thesis, and marched mellophone for five summers with the Colts Drum and Bugle Corps. In 2007, he earned his MM in Horn Performance from Arizona State University, and was personally invited by Sam Pilafian to play Horn as a member of the Boston Brass for two feature performances.
Adam currently lives in Chicago, IL where, in addition to his work in the Marching Arts, he is in high demand as a Piano Teacher and a Dueling Pianos entertainer. He performs more than 130 shows a year, travelling all over the country to play private events, corporate parties, schools, fundraisers, festivals, civic events, weddings and night clubs.
